The Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) is searching for nurses who will be awarded with scholarship from AETNA and the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurses Association (NCEMNA). The Aetna/NCEMNA Scholars Program is one of three current initiatives sponsored by NCEMNA.
The Philippine Nurses Association, which was established in 1979, deals with the problems and issues of Filipino nurse migrant including employer exploitations and human rights violations.
The scholarship grant, amounting to USD2,000.00 or Php80,000, will be given to qualified member of PNAA. The scholarship will provide financial support to the awardee to participate in the PNAA conference under the mentorship of a PNAA member/leader. The first $1,000 will be given to you at the conference award ceremony. Once you have demonstrated completion of the agreed upon mentoring activities, another $1,000 will be given to you. An additional $1,000 may be available to cover pre-approved expenses to attend one conference sponsored by your member organization.
The scholarship is allotted for the registration fees and other related travel expenses. The conference aims to provide unique educational experiences, promoting leadership development and cultural competencies to the participants.
Eligibility Criteria/Requirement
Interested applicants may submit the following requirements:
- Current PNAA membership
- Current enrollment and /or admission to an accredited BSN, Master’s of Nursing or Health Related Degree or Doctoral Degree
- Evidence of leadership/involvement in the ethnic community.
- Two letters of recommendations: one from employer or peer, one from a faculty or supervisor
- Letter of acceptance to an accredited program/transcript of records
- Brief Resume
- Brief essay of career/professional goals.
- Completed application form.
