It's a known fact that most nursing graduates' wants to work abroad and United States of America (USA) and Canada are some of their desired destinations. Illegal recruiters know this too well and take advantage of that knowledge by offering fake jobs to unsuspecting victims.

For this reason, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) reminded all nurses who aspires to work in the said countries to be careful in dealing with recruiters. The warning was issued by POEA after receiving reports from the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa Canada that there are a number of Filipino nurses who were victimized by a nurse recruiting agent named AGERICO CASEY GABRiEL

(a.k.a. Casey Gabriel). The fake recruiters are able to convince the nurses because they use the company name of licensed agencies and email address such as hansbeda@aol.com.

According to POEA chief, Jennifer Jardin-Manalili, Gabriel recruited the nurses under the pretense that he is a representative of Medical Caregiver Management, Medical Link or other legitimate recruitment agency. His modus operandi includes conducting a special recruitment conference to earn the trust of his audience. After gaining their trust, he will then asked money from the nurses saying that it is for escrow payments required for visas to "complete the process."

The President of Medical Link and Mr. Sam Switzer of another agency said that they have no knowledge and denied any responsibility about the activities of a certain Agerico Casey Gabriel. Manalili said that to be avoid being victimized nurses should always check if the person they are dealing with is really legitimate and a true representative of a company they say.
