A 60-year old Filipina
nurse working in America as
a private duty nurse inherited USD33 million from her employer which happens to
be the heiress of one of America's
great fortunes. Hadassah Peri, now a US
immigrant served as the private nurse of Huguette Clark, who is the daughter of
a US
senator and a copper mining tycoon. Clark is said to have a mansion in New York with 121 rooms
and inherited all hi father’s wealth when it died.
Her mansion was left empty
as she is childless. She got married at the age of 22 but the union was
short-lived and did not produce a child. It is said that she lived in isolation
and refused to have her photographs taken after her marriage ended.
When the heiress died on
May 24 at the age of 104, her last will and testament states that she is
leaving great wealth to her private nurse, her lawyer Wallace Bock, 79, and accountant,
Irving Kamsler. The lawyer who is already
79 years old and the accountant who is 64 years old both received USD500, 000
in cash.
Hadassah Peri said that
her employer also gave her USD2 million before she died so she can buy
properties. This is the reason why Peri’s properties include a USD700,000 house
in Sheepshead Bay,
Brooklyn, and a USD500,000 home in a golf course in the Jersey Shore.
Peri said in an interview
by New York Daily Times, “I was her private duty nurse, but also her close
friend. “I knew her as a kind and generous person with whom I shared many
wonderful moments and whom I love very much. I am profoundly sad at her
passing, awed at the generosity she has shown me and my family.”
Peri who is a mother of
three also said that she saw Clark every day
for 20 years. According to reports, the last 22 years of Clark
was spent in the hospital but she has no diagnosed illness.
