Nurses Should Wear Compression Socks Because…

Becoming a nurse is also signing up for the long hours of standing and walking here and there that could sum up to thousands of miles.

At the end of a shift, every nurse suffers that agonizing leg pain and soreness. This doubles when the shift had been a very busy one with lots of patients coming in.

Thanks to whoever had the bright idea of using compression socks, no more foot rubs after the shift. Instead, there will only be precious times to relax and rest.

Every nurse should wear compression socks because:

It reduces leg swelling. No nurse would be exempted to a swollen leg after their 12-hour shift. Wearing compression socks would lessen this though.

It reduces soreness. Being a nurse is hard, the work itself challenging. The stress takes a toll not only to the body but to the mind as well. Using compression socks helps the circulation of blood and oxygen thus relieving any discomfort.

It reduces those unwanted, ugly veins. Did you know that standing for long hours can cause varicose veins? This is a result of the blood pooling and enlarging the veins in the lower extremities. Compression socks will help you retain that sexy legs you have to flaunt.

It can compliment whatever type of scrubs you wear. For sure, no matter how strict your hospital’s uniform policy is, they won’t bother checking on the style and color of the socks every nurse puts on.

It supports your leg with all the love. Since compression socks give tight hugs to the legs, it will help keep nurses’ legs look and feel fantastic.

Nurses should take into consideration the quality and fabric of the socks. It should not slip or roll down, will not make your feet smell and won’t make you feel hot or irritated at all.
